I’m a highly motivated SEO specialist with 3 years of experience in prominent digital marketing agencies. As an SEO Analyst at iCrossing UK's Brighton office, I help well-known brands to organically increase their search engine visibility in the most efficient way possible.
I work as part of an effective SEO team to maintain and grow the organic visibility of three large UK businesses in the financial service and fashion retail sectors. I specialise in creating actionable recommendations for the client based on intensive auditing of the site. These recommendations range from mobile-friendliness, page load speed, backlinks and site health to user intent, keyword mapping and information architecture and more.
I’m in charge of providing commentary and analysis from an SEO perspective for monthly client reports. One recent achievement in this area would be changing the emphasis of these reports from merely keyword rankings to traffic, conversions and revenue. This helps the client to properly understand what our SEO strategy is driving for them in terms of ROI, while also increasing efficiency for us as an agency.
I have lots of opportunities to carry out and improve on bread-and-butter SEO work for my clients. These include keyword research, meta data optimisation, internal linking, indexation recommendations and more. I also have experience with site migrations, international SEO and love diving into code to seek out issues that are damaging my client’s search visibility.
In doing the above projects on a day to day basis, I get the chance to interrogate many industry-leading SEO and digital marketing tools. These provide me with data and perspective necessary to massively leverage the opportunities present on my client’s site and in the wider marketplace. These tools include Screaming Frog, Pi DataMetrics, Majestic, Ahrefs, SEMrush, CognitiveSEO and more.
I also help keep abreast of new search engine developments and prepare business cases on possible strategies for the wider Digital Marketing team. for the wider team. This includes utilising Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) which has now been rolled out on two of my clients.
Lastly, I’m involved with assessing and interviewing marketing graduates to determine whether they would be a good fit at iCrossing. I also strongly believe in helping junior members of the team to build their skill sets and involve them in projects which will help to enhance their knowledge and understanding. The same is true of new senior team mates who need be brought up to speed on client accounts as quickly as possible.
In my spare time, I offer bespoke freelance digital marketing consultancy to small businesses. Using my experience of advanced marketing campaigns for huge UK businesses, I help SMEs grow organically and profitably online.
This includes building custom WordPress sites that increase flexibility and functionality, hyper-relevant paid search advertising, high profile events in the local area to attract interest and citations and support with learning management systems.
I ensured websites and campaigns were technically optimised for maximum organic visibility. This included supporting SEO activities such as on page and off page SEO, backlink audits, structural & technical reports and website migrations. I also helped maintain a high level of visibility monitoring and ongoing strategy to maximise performance and meet client objectives.
I carried advanced and detailed user search intent analyses to better understand what people are looking for and how our clients can meet their needs. This periodical reassessment of the changing search environment was to ensure that customers’ needs are well understood and that they are capitalising on all opportunities for links with appropriate referral sources.
Part of my role was to accomplish an understanding of the products, competition, industry, marketing goals and objectives of each of our clients, as well as identifying and recommending onsite and technical changes. This included carrying out ‘hands-on’ changes where required. As an aide to acquiring new clients I also audited prospect websites and wrote up SEO spot checks for the sales team to use.
I began my digital marketing career as an apprentice at a thought-leading agency in Worthing. Over 12 months I spent time in the SEO, account management and PPC departments, working with experienced team members to learn as much as possible and improve under their guidance. Alongside this full-time work, I studied for and completed assignments for a Level 3 Diploma in Digital Marketing.
My time in SEO taught me the basics of how to optimise websites and how to appreciate huge sets of data. Being in account management showed me how important it is to provide value to clients and organise my time efficiently. Finally, being in the PPC team showed me how organic and paid search don’t have to conflict, and that we can use both disciplines to dominate search results pages.
For the last few years I’ve been involved in a lot of charity and creative art events work. I’ve marshalled at the Brighton Half Marathon, been a steward at a Brighton Pride campsite and helped at the opening of Wandsworth Fringe Festival.
In my spare time I put my WordPress and SEO knowledge to good use, building and administering websites for family members. A good example of this would be for Strawberry Vibes fitness studio in Burgess hill, which is owned by my cousin. I have completely revamped the business’ online presence, with a new SEO optimised WordPress site.
Outside of work I keep myself busy. I enjoy socialising with friends, writing Science Fiction, playing sports like Tennis, Golf and Ping Pong as well as playing video games and reading personal development books.
